Crash Bandicoot, our favorite ’90s video game, is officially getting remastered

Many of us ’90s gamers can remember navigating our favorite wild-eyed orange bandicoot through the jungles, jumping on and spinning away from enemies in a valiant effort to defeat Doctor Neo Cortex. We happily played the original Crash Bandicoot game on PlayStation back in 1996, then hungrily ate up its sequels, Cortex Strikes Back and Warped, in the late ’90s.

And now, for the marsupial’s 20th birthday, Crash is getting a reboot. . . and it’s looking like it will be an amazing nostalgia overload. false

Sony announced at the E3 press conference in Los Angeles this week that three Crash video games will be released for PS4. While they’ll look shiny and modern, they won’t *technically* be “new,” because they’ll be remastered versions of the old missions we played back in the ’90s — which many of us nostalgic players will totally view as a plus. You’ll still be able to spin, double-jump, and all of those other moves you remember from back in the ’90s — and Crash will even be voiced by the original voice actress, Jess Harnell.

Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped will be getting updates “from the ground up,” Sony said. Crash’s developer, Activision, also added that they’re “proud to celebrate the iconic character’s 20-year anniversary.” Crash will also be appearing as a new character in the next installment of the Skylanders franchise, so it seems as though there’s a lot set in store for our favorite shirtless bandicoot. false
