A couple spent 24 years living on a floating island home and it looks like absolute heaven

Housing can be expensive. Catherine King and Wayne Adams decided to solve this problem in, perhaps, one of the best ways ever — instead of buying a home, they simply built up an island. Located off of the coast of Vancouver Island, “Freedom Cove” is the place they’ve called home for the last 24 years.

Just imagine: These two, both artists, live without roads, and depend mostly on the water that surrounds them (their home is actually tied to the shore). They’ve got gardens, a lighthouse building, greenhouses, and of course, a dance floor.

“I know every board and nail by name,” Adams says proudly when discussing his home. And as expected, his home is absolutely beautiful.

Adams paddles everywhere, and even fishes inside his house. So, he’s kinda-sorta living the life.

“I can’t imagine living any other way,” King says. “I feel completely fulfilled.”

The two have made their island home completely sustainable. But first and foremost, they seem completely happy. This, without a doubt, kinda looks like the best way to live off the grid.
