This couple got engaged on a roller coaster because #thrillseekers

Marriage proposals are usually an occasion for butterflies in the tummy, but one couple is taking that notion to a whole new level.

Austin Crecelius and Allison (Allie) Boyle recently got engaged on The Voyage roller coaster at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. And yes, as if this story wasn’t already adorable enough, it took place in an actual town called Santa Claus. On East Christmas Blvd, actually.

But back to the butterflies…Austin had clearly prepared for the big moment because he enlisted a friend to videotape the whole thing and his proposal was filled with all sorts of fun roller coaster puns. And we have to say, for a man who is proposing to his girlfriend while at the same time riding one of the fastest wooden roller coasters on the planet, he’s remarkably calm and collected. Either of those activities would probably throw anyone for a loop (pardon the pun), but not Austin. Here’s what he said, just in case you can’t hear him over all the theme park noises and terrified screams of the other passengers:

“At one point in time you had mentioned to me that life is like a roller coaster. And its got its up and downs, its got twists and turns, and it even throws you for a loop sometimes. And though you can go by yourself, its a lot more fun to go with another person. So I wanted to ask you if you wanted to be my roller coaster buddy. Allie will you marry me?”

Roller coaster buddy? I mean, have you ever heard such cuteness?

We can’t help but wonder if Allie knew what she was in for when she told him life was like a roller coaster. (Watch what you say, people!) From the looks of things, she wasn’t expecting the proposal. At. All. But honestly, her emotional reaction is giving us all the feels. Those are happy tears…at least until The Voyage crests the hill and she goes plunging back to earth.

Austin and Allie seem like a lot of fun. They’re the sort of people we’d love to hang out with. We just might want to take some Dramamine first.

Quick real talk, though: Whipping out a cell phone or any other kind of recording device isn’t all that safe when you’re riding a roller coaster. Centrifugal force is no joke. Imagine how much damage a cell phone could do if it hits someone in the face when they’re going 100 miles per hour. (A lot.) We love that Austin and Allie acknowledged this on YouTube with a heartfelt apology to Holiday World. For their part, Holiday World was cool about it. They reminded everyone to be safe when riding theme park rides and gave Austin and Allie this sweet message: “May all your adventures as husband and wife make you hang on tight, scream a little, laugh a lot, and bring you happily back home again.”

Why do we have the feeling they’ve got that covered?
