Corgi lovers, get ready to swoon over the new “Vanity Fair” cover
Remember the super gorgeous portraits Annie Leibovitz shot of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate her 90th birthday? Of course you do. We’re still a little bit in love with the queen’s great-granddaughter Mia Tindall after she totally stole the spotlight in one of the photos by adorably posing with her granny’s handbag.
It turns out those photos weren’t just for the queen’s personal photo album and our Instagram viewing pleasure. They were part of an exclusive cover shoot for Vanity Fair. That’s right. Queen Elizabeth II is rocking the cover of the newest issue of VF, and BRACE YOURSELVES, dog lovers because it’s the absolute cutest.
Oh be still our corgi-loving hearts!
The best thing about this cover (besides the overall cuteness factor) is that, according to Annie Leibovitz, the queen wanted her dogs in the shot. Leibovitz told Vanity Fair, “The most moving, important thing about this shoot is that these were all her ideas. She wanted to be photographed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal; and her corgis.”
We can totally see why. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have their picture taken beneath a pile of sweet dogs?? (By Annie Liebovitz, no less.) The pups pictured all belong to the queen, and their names are Holly, Willow, Vulcan, and Candy. Holly and Willow are both purebred corgis. Vulcan and Candy are “dorgis,” who were born after one of the queen’s corgis got busy with one of her sister Princess Margaret’s dachshunds. TBH we kind of love the idea of some mixed breed dogs running around the palace alongside purebred dogs. Not to mention the fact that they’re adorable in every way.
Queen Elizabeth II has always loved corgis and has had them as pets since 1949. Need some visual evidence?
We’re betting she loves this cover as much as we do. All hail the queen (and her dogs)!
