Here’s how to copy Vanessa Hudgens’s glittery red eye makeup at the VMAs
Last night proved to be a style bonanza as our favorite celebs hit the red carpet in their fashion finery at MTV’s biggest celebration of the year. One VMA look that made our jaws drop was Vanessa Hudgens’ glittery red eye makeup — her shimmering ruby eyeliner left us absolutely floored.
Vanessa’s entire ensemble is absolute perfection. Her structured yet delicate red dress has gorgeous sequin details along the side that are reminiscent of a peacock’s vibrant tail. And, hello, get a load of that sheer panel in the skirt!
As if the swipe of Vanessa Hudgens’ bright red liner isn’t exciting enough on its own, there are actual Swarovski crystals in her eye makeup.
Now that is some glam princess magic right there.

Who even knew that was possible? We are going to seriously have to up our makeup game now. There is no excuse. We can’t think of a more over-the-top (in the best way) makeup idea than putting actual crystals on one’s eyelids.
If you can’t get enough of Vanessa’s look but can’t quite swing the Swarovski, here’s how you can copy her makeup.
1Stila Magnificent Metals Glimmer and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, $24
While not quite as fire-engine red as Vanessa’s liner, this is as glittery as it gets when it comes to liquid eyeshadow. You can swipe it on and refine it to create a dramatic winged liner look.
2Kat Von D Beauty Glimmer Veil Liquid Lipstick in Dazzle, $22

This red-hot liquid lipstick works just as well as a liner or eyeshadow, and with Kat’s long-lasting formula, you know it won’t budge, and it will shine as bright as can be.
3NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Fire, $6.99
Get that perfect cherry red liner look with this easy to use and affordable eyeliner. Wear it matte on its own or amp it up like Vanessa with some glitter.
3Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner, $20
If red isn’t your color but you still want to take part in the glitter makeup trend, try one of the shades in Urban Decay’s special Heavy Metal Glitter line. Wear them on their own or layer a clear one, like Distortion, over a regular red liner to emulate Vanessa’s look.
What do you think, are you inspired to give this bold and ultra-glamorous look a shot? If Vanessa can pull it off, why not the rest of us?
