Twitter is demanding that Constance Wu host the season premiere of SNL, and heck yes

The people have spoken, and they officially want Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu tohost the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. As the movie continues to dominate the summer box office, fans think it only makes sense that Wu should take on the iconic hosting gig. And we obviously agree.

It all started yesterday, August 27th, when SNL’s official Twitter account asked followers who they’d like to see host the show this season. Twitter users suggested Harry Styles, Ryan Reynolds, and several SNL alums, but the campaign to get the Fresh off the Boat actress on the show seems to be gaining the most traction.

Many of the Twitter users championing Wu also mentioned SNL‘s dearth of Asian representation over the years, noting that the series has never had a cast member who identified as Asian in its 43-year history. The show has also only had a handful of Asian hosts throughout its run.

Wu’s Crazy Rich Asians costar Harry Shum Jr. also got in on the action, suggesting three of his costars from the hit movie.

Basically, not considering Wu (or several of her amazingly talented costars—if she doesn’t happen to be available) would be downright crazy. Consider this our official endorsement.
