Television dream team alert: Connie Britton has just joined Ryan Murphy’s newest show

Connie Britton is returning to TV, y’all!

Less than a year after leaving Nashville behind, the Friday Night Lights icon is reuniting with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk for their new procedural drama on Fox.

Britton joins Peter Krause and fellow AHS alum Angela Bassett in 9-1-1, which reportedly follows the experiences of first responders — including police, paramedics, and firefighters – as they balance their high-stress jobs and their personal lives. Think NBC’s Chicago franchise all wrapped into one, with added Murphy and Falchuk flair. According to Deadline, Britton will be playing a 911 operator.

Britton starred in the American Horror Story: Murder House, which launched the anthology series to its current status as a global phenomenon. Britton also re-teamed with Murphy for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, in which she appeared as Faye Resnick.

While she only appeared in the first season of AHS, Britton has remained a frequent collaborator of of Murphy’s, and has even expressed interest in returning to the anthology horror series. In 2015, she told Variety that she’d love to do more and blamed scheduling issues — she was filming Nashville *in* Nashville, TN — for keeping her from more AHS.

While 9-1-1 *isn’t* AHS, it’s still so nice to see Britton teaming up on another project with Murphy. Hopefully she’ll at least be able to make an appearance on the next seasons of Feud and American Crime Story.

While we wait for 9-1-1, we can see Britton in the new Frankie Shaw comedy series SMILF, on Showtime in November. Meanwhile, we’ll also be continuing our campaign for a Friday Night Lights reunion special because we need more Coach and Tami Taylor in our lives.

9-1-1 will begin airing on Fox sometime in 2018.
