This video of a colorblind boy seeing color for the first time is beautiful

For those of us who aren’t colorblind, it’s hard to imagine not knowing a certain color, or what it would feel like to see a color for the first time. But with the invention of EnChroma sunglasses, we can see more and more what it’s like for someone’s whole perspective to change — literally.

The glasses are a bit on the expensive side, but the look on the user’s face is priceless. Take Luke, a young boy who has been colorblind his whole life. His father gifted him a pair of these glasses, and his reaction is both hilarious and heartwarming.

He can’t stop running, and later, scootering, around his yard, taking in all the colors he’s never before seen. He touches his friend’s shirt in disbelief, he gasps and points to the sky. He can’t handle it!

These kind of videos are a nice reminder to never take anything for granted. Luke is absolutely astounded by a world that we sometimes simply glance at as we rush to work. If only we looked at our everyday surroundings with as much wonder.
