Turns out Colin Kaepernick doesn’t actually support Travis Scott’s upcoming Super Bowl performance
Colin Kaepernick does not support Travis Scott performing at the Super Bowl halftime show after all. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback dispelled all reports in a single retweet from the account of his girlfriend, radio host Nessa. In a January 16th tweet, Nessa wrote, “There is NO mutual respect and there is NO understanding for anyone working against @Kaepernick7 PERIOD. #stoplying.”

The tweet comes on the heels of reports that Kaepernick spoke with the rapper about his upcoming performance and endorsed it. In a January 15th exclusive, Variety reported that Scott consulted with Kaepernick before confirming his performance. The source said that while the two did not agree on the appearance, they “emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding.”
Scott confirmed in December that he would be performing at the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show. In a statement to Billboard, the rapper revealed that he agreed to take the stage under the condition that the NFL joined him in donating $500,000 to social justice organization Dream Corps. Artists such as Rihanna and Cardi B reportedly turned down offers to perform at the event, citing the NFL’s stance on the #TakeAKnee movement sparked by Kaepernick in 2016. Kaepernick is currently suing the NFL after being blacklisted for the movement.
