The Coffee Table with Emma Robertson

Hello Gigglers and welcome back to The Coffee Table where we get to hear what wakes you up and inspires you! Today’s guest, originally from Dallas, TX and now living in San Francisco, knits together her passions of graphic design, blogging and literally knitting over at Emmadime:

Currently Brewing

I am currently putting the finishing touches on my new portfolio & blog! A redesign was long overdue – I spend so much time on these platforms so it’s important for me to keep them fresh, relevant, and exciting! Being a freelance graphic designer & expressing myself visually is so important to me. It will always keep me going! In 2014, I have plans to push a business idea that involves really awesome approachable web design. So stay tuned if that’s your thing, ha! Oh also, I released my first book, Knitting By Design, back in October! I have been riding the wave that came from that!

Favorite Drink

My sweet sweet boyfriend makes me coffee every morning. He is a morning person, I am not, so this works out perfectly. The French Press was our method of madness for the longest time but now we’ve moved onto an AeroPress. It’s a bit more involved (which is fun) and creates a much different end result. I take cream and sugar when I’m in a good mood.

It’s the Little Things

  • riding my bike everywhere!!
  • knitting cool pieces for my closet
  • action movies

My Coffee Table My boyfriend and I made it ourselves. We spent an afternoon at Home Depot and borrowed a friend’s drill. I have very little experience designing and making “furniture”, if you even want to call this that, so it was quite the experience. It’s a lot of work but it feels so good to know that it’s one-of-a-kind! We have a small apartment with no dining area so the coffee table serves many purposes. It’s basically the only table we have in the entire place! We wanted something that was longer than your standard coffee table so we could have more surface area to utilize! It has been perfect for us.

On my table: A journal designed by my studio mate, Lo Crosier, my new computer, yay! I have been using the same one since college (SO BAD!!), wooden flower coasters from LEIF, and my fern in a MUJI wooden bowl.

Words of Wisdom “I’ve got 99 problems and 89 of them are completely made up scenarios in my head that I’m stressing about for absolutely no reason.” – Unknown << Don’t stress >>  Follow Emma on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Vimeo.
