Coca-Cola cans are getting QUITE the makeover

Sometimes you just want to sit back in the sun and enjoy a Coke. And these days, you can feel quite patriotic about the whole thing, as cans of Coca Cola will now be decked out in red, white, and blue.

Coca Cola has just launched a new campaign to honor U.S. service members, called “Campaign to Connect.” Coca Cola and the United Service Organizations, or USO, have been linked since 1941, and this campaign is celebrating their 75th year of partnership. And while you might have seen the “Share a Song” cans recently, these cans have their own set of lyrics on them — “I’m Proud To Be An American.”

But there’s more! Since one of the goals that Coca Cola and the USO have is to connect soldiers to family, you can send over your own message of support to a service member. On the USO campaign website, you can choose a pre-set message (like “Thank you for keeping us safe. Stay strong.”) or create your very own. Their goal is to send one million messages to both service members and their families, to remind them how much their line of work makes a big impact on our country.

Coke isn’t the only company to start putting America’s colors on its packaging — Skittles, Hershey’s chocolate bars, and even Budweiser have embraced a red, white, and blue change this season. You can grab a patriotic can up until July 4th, the official end-date of the campaign.
