This CNN anchor stopped an interview because her guest wouldn’t stop saying “boobs”
Brooke Baldwin ain’t got time for your sexist BS. The CNN anchor handled her business like a boss on Friday, shutting down an interview with self-identified “Southern white conservative” Fox Sports Radio host Clay Travis after the guest wouldn’t stop saying “boobs” live on-air.
Travis appeared on the news network alongside ESPN senior editor Keith Reed to discuss the controversy surrounding ESPN anchor Jemele Hill’s calling out of Donald Trump as a “white supremacist” on Twitter last week. Defending calls for Hill’s firing by conservative media — and even the White House — Travis asserted his unwavering belief in two apparently uniquely American ideals: free speech and boobs. Barf.

“I’m a First Amendment absolutist,” said Travis. “I believe in only two things completely: the First Amendment and boobs.”
Stunned and not entirely sure of what she just heard, Baldwin stopped Travis and attempted to make sense of all it all.
“I just want to make sure I understood you correctly, as a woman anchoring this show,” said Baldwin. “What did you just say? You believe in the First Amendment and b-double-o-b-s?”
“Boobs,” said Travis with all the sexist, white, male entitlement he could muster. “The only two things that have never let me down in this entire country’s history: the First Amendment and boobs.”

Following Travis’s doubling down, Reed, who had appeared on the program to advocate on behalf of Hill, seemed just as taken aback as Baldwin. “Listen, I’m astonished at almost everything I’ve just heard,” he said. “For someone to come on CNN and to say something like, ‘The only thing I believe in and the discussion about..”

That’s when Baldwin did something she said she’s only done a handful of times in her career. She shut that sh*t down. “I told the control room to kill his mic and said ‘bye,’” she wrote in a CNN op-ed published yesterday.
"I've been a journalist for 17 years — the past seven spent at CNN hosting a live show. I've seen and heard some things. But when I first heard 'boobs' from a grown man on national television (in 2017!!!)...I just couldn't let this go."

“The thing is — this is not okay. Speaking to women like this is unacceptable,” wrote Baldwin. “I want to help lift women’s voices. And I realize, in doing that, I need to use my own.”
