All the clues Meghan Markle was pregnant
By now we’re sure you’ve heard that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together. Early this morning, October 15th, Kensington Palace announced that a new royal baby will arrive in the spring of 2019.
Though pregnancy rumors have been circulating since the happy couple’s royal wedding in May (mostly due to the fact that Markle and Prince Harry made it clear in their engagement interview that they both wanted children right away), there have been plenty of recent, subtle signs that Markle is expecting.
1The new, much straighter hairstyle
Speculation began when Markle debuted a new hairstyle after she and Prince Harry paid a visit to Loughborough University in September. She ditched her signature loose waves and messy bun for a sleek, pin-straight style. At the time, many thought Markle was following in the footsteps of Kate Middleton (who changed her hairstyle before each of her three pregnancies)—the presumed reason being that the public would focus on your hair, not your bump.
2Her coat at Princess Eugenie’s wedding
Speculation intensified when Markle stepped out in a loose-fitting, dark-colored Givenchy coat at Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie’s wedding on October 12th. Eagle-eyed royal baby watchers noted that the duchess buttoned up only the top two buttons of her coat—leaving her mid-section some extra room.
3Missing that trip to Fiji
The Duke and Duchess are scheduled to make their first royal tour to Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fjii this month. However, there were recent reports that Markle would not be visiting Fiji with Harry after all. This led to almost immediate pregnancy speculation, because the Zika virus—which affects unborn children—is known to be present there.

4And finally, the purple folders
After touching down in Sydney, Australia on October 14th, the soon-to-be mom carried purple folders over her stomach as she left the airport. Naturally, the sighting set the internet ablaze—and just hours later, Kensington Palace announced the news.
Now that the cat baby is officially out of the bag, can we start picking potential royal baby names ASAP!?
