Calling all virgins who can’t drive: A Clueless remake is reportedly in the works

Did you think you’ve seen the last of Clueless? As if. A remake of the 1995 cult classic is in the works at Paramount, according to a Deadline exclusive. Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver will produce the film, and GLOW writer Marquita Robinson will pen the script.

The remake is at its early stages, so very little details are known surrounding casting and whether or not the script will stray from the original. News of a remake follows the announcement of a Clueless musical in June, which will begin its run off-Broadway in November. Earlier this month, Disney Channel alum Dove Cameron was cast in the iconic role of Cher Horowitz.

As many ’90s babes will recall, Clueless follows popular high school teen Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) as she gives awkward new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. Directed by Amy Heckerling, the film is loosely based on the novel Emma by Jane Austen. Silverstone also stars opposite Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, and Donald Faison in the film.

Oliver took to Twitter on October 25th to confirm the news. She wrote, “Crazy excited to be producing a *new* take on one of my favorite movies of all time, #Clueless, with the hilarious and super talented @MarqRobinson writing it!!!  As. If.”

More updates to come. We’re buggin’.
