This cartoon about the clitoris should be mandatory sex-ed viewing
Clitoris. It’s a word that’s been stigmatized for practically ever, even though half the humans of the world own one. And while many of us blush at the thought of talking about our clits, Lori Malépart-Traversy decided to tackle the mystery of the clitoris with her short animated video.
The Canadian filmmaker created an animated clitoris to tell us all about what it actually is.
The result is both adorable and informative, and a must watch for anyone with, or without, a clitoris.
The video opens sweetly enough, with a fact many of us probably weren’t aware of; the clitoris is the only organ designed solely for pleasure.
And while the video states that women are lucky for having this organ, we’d just like to say that not everyone who identifies as female has a clitoris. And that there are plenty of people who don’t identify as female who do have one.
The video then goes on to say that the part of the clitoris we can see is actually only one part of the whole clitoris, like the tip of an iceberg. The biggest part is actually hidden inside the body, with two 10 centimeter “roots” extending from each side, which is why some people are able to have vaginal orgasms. The clitoris is also a lot like a penis, since it fills with blood and grows when it becomes excited.
Even though the existence of the organ has been known since Ancient Greece, the clitoris has been discovered and “rediscovered” by men. ~eye-roll.~ And since the 1800’s, when the clitoris was rendered a useless organ, it’s had to overcome obscurantism. Thankfully, we’re finally starting to talk about the organ, d the importance of female orgasm.
The video tackles tough issues like self-pleasure, clitoris pride and history in a digestible and relatable manner. We all love someone with a clitoris and everyone deserves sexual pleasure!
