Ciara Revealed Why She and Russell Wilson Chose Their New Baby’s Name
She teared up talking about it.
On July 23rd, Ciara and Russell Wilson welcomed their baby son, Win Harrison Wilson, into the world. With such a unique name, the world wanted to know how the couple came up with it. According to Ciara, it was all daddy’s idea.
“That is Daddy. I give credit to Dad. Oh my gosh, I’m gonna get emotional,” Ciara told Entertainment Tonight on August 12th, referencing her husband, Wilson. “The hormones, I will tell every pregnant mom, they’re real, okay? They don’t stop. Even when you have the baby, and you’re just fresh out, it happens. But they’re good tears, praise the Lord.”
She continued, “We would talk about names, and Russ kind of always had this name Win in the rotation, years ago, before we knew we were having a girl. He had all the good names and Win won. So Win is the name and he’s so cute, he’s so precious.”
Ciara and Wilson already share 3-year-old Sienna and co-parent Ciara’s 6-year-old son Future with her rapper ex of the same name.
“Russell would always be like, ‘Here’s Win shortstop,’ he like, plays a whole thing out,” Ciara said. Does the name Win have to do with Wilson’s baseball and football background? (He’s currently the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, and he used to play professional baseball with the Colorado Rockies organization.) Our guess is yes, definitely. Wilson is seeing some athletic power in his baby’s future.
Win’s middle name, Harrison, is Wilson’s father’s name, “which is really sweet and precious, Ciara added. There was a lot of love and thought put into it.”
According to Ciara, Win is already living up to his name. His delivery was so fast and went so smoothly, Ciara counted her blessings after he arrived. “The craziest thing is that I literally pushed Win out in like eight minutes,” she said.
Despite having to give birth amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Ciara is beyond grateful for what she has and the fun she’s having with her family. “I’m having the best days,” she told ET, adding, “Listen, I’m gonna tell all my mommas out there, you’ve got this. You are built for everything that you’re going through, and God made us uniquely strong. He gave us this gift to where we can do it all.”
And if you think you need a little extra help, just name your baby Win to get the good vibes going.
