Christina Grimmie’s family thanks fans for support in a heartbreaking statement

Last month, singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs after a show in Orlando, Florida. Fellow singers, stars, and fans immediately came together to raise money for her family and create music in tribute to the incredible YouTuber and The Voice contestant. Her family has spent this time silently mourning and recovering, but yesterday they issued a statement to People, and it will break your heart.
“The outpouring of love and generosity that has been displayed to our family throughout these last few weeks has far exceeded anything we could have ever imagined,” said her parents, Bud and Tina, and her brother Marcus. The statement continues:
The 22-year-old was given a private funeral on June 16th at her family home in New Jersey. The singer will be forever remembered through her music and the people whose lives she changed with her work.
