Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato just dropped “Fall In Line,” and it feels like the official sequel to “Beautiful”
Deep breath in through the nose, and out through the mouth. Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato just dropped “Fall In Line” today, May 16th, and although we knew the collab was coming, we certainly weren’t prepared for the final results. We suddenly have a new feminist anthem, and we’re ready to march.
“Fall In Line” is a single from Aguilera’s upcoming June 15th album Liberation, on which she also collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chains. Together, Aguilera and Lovato pretty much created the sequel to Aguilera’s 2002 hit “Beautiful,” in which she told us that no matter what others/the media tell us, we’re all beautiful people. However, this new track has a grit to it; it’s a fight song that encourages women and girls to stand up for themselves, speak their minds, and be themselves. Aguilera and Lovato remind us that we weren’t made to “fall in line” with what society wants from us. Chills, people. We have chills!
Lovato, hailed for her body-positive and mental health activism, hinted to Billboard back in February that she was collaborating with one of her “biggest idols,” Eonline.com reported. On May 5th, Aguilera told the publication that she almost cried when she heard Lovato on the track for the first time. Honestly, same.
And if you like the sound of “Fall In Line” after watching the below lyric video, you’ll definitely want to tune into the Sunday, May 20th Billboard Music Awards where the duo will perform their single live.

Here are the lyrics to “Fall in Line” in case you want to sing along come Sunday:
[Verse 1]
Little girls, listen closely
‘Cause no one told me
But you deserve to know
That in this world, you are not beholden
You do not owe them
Your body and your soul
[Pre-Chorus]
All the youth in the world will not save you from growing older
And all the truth in the girl is too precious to be stolen from her
[Chorus]
It’s just the way it is
Maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength
And I got a right to speak my mind
And I’m gonna pay for this
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, I wasn’t made to fall in line, no
[Verse 2]
Show some skin, make him want you
‘Cause God forbid you
Know your own way home
And ask yourself why it matters
Who it flatters
You’re more than flesh and bones
[Pre-Chorus]
All the youth in the world will not save you from growing older
And all the truth in the girl is too precious to be stolen from her
[Chorus]
It’s just the way it is
Maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength
And I got a right to speak my mind
And I’m gonna pay for this
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, no, I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, I weren’t made to fall in line, oh
[Bridge]
1, 2, 3
Right — 2, 3
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — 2, 3
1, 2, 3
Who told you you’re allowed to think?
1, 2, 3
Right — 2, 3
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — 2, 3
1, 2, 3
Who told you you’re allowed to think?
[Chorus]
It’s just the way it is
Maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength
And I got a right to speak my mind
And I’m gonna pay for this
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
‘Cause I wasn’t made to fall in line
I wasn’t made to leave my fate
I’m never gonna fall in line, oh
[Outro]
1, 2, 3
Right — 2, 3
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — 2, 3
1, 2, 3
Who told you you’re allowed to think?
1, 2, 3
Right — 2, 3
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — 2, 3
1, 2, 3
Who told you you’re allowed to think?
To anyone who’s ever felt silenced and repressed, the truth seekers and bold thinkers… may you liberate your voice and break the mold, never back down, and never fall in line. https://t.co/hfWO13Ds1t #FallInLine @ddlovato pic.twitter.com/Nat3WeHDZb

We hope this is just the first Aguilera and Lovato collaboration of many more to come. If you need us, we’ll be jamming out and crying at the same time.
