Another fan-favorite “Walking Dead” star is pregnant

Though childbearing isn’t always the best idea in the apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead, in real life, the third leading Dead star in as many years, Christian Serratos, is currently pregnant with her first child. A rep for the actress confirmed to E! that Serratos — who has played the hardened warrior Rosita on the series since Season 4 – is expecting a baby with her boyfriend of three years, David Boyd.
“They’re extremely happy and have been looking forward to starting a family,” a source told People.
Serratos and her kid will have plenty of new moms and babies to bond with on set — well, in the (very unlikely) scenario where all of them survive to see Season 8, anyway. Alanna Masterson, who plays Tara, welcomed a daughter named Marlowe in November 2015, while Sasha actress Sonequa Martin-Green welcomed a son named Kenric the previous January.

Masterson will also have words of advice when it comes to how it feels to be visibly pregnant — or recently postpartum — on camera. The actress spoke out against body-shaming after she received a deluge of hateful comments on social media, writing “maybe you can’t get it through your thick fucking skull, but nursing a baby for a year (and pumping in a van between takes, in the dead of summer in Georgia) is a lot of work, determination, and scheduling” on an Instagram photo back in November.
We hope that Serratos has an easier time with terrible internet trolls than Masterson did, though we also have a very hard time imagining how the series will hide Rosita’s pregnancy. Girl is the crop top queen of middle-Virginia, and by the time filming begins for Season 8 later this year, Serratos won’t exactly be in 1999 Britney Spears condition.
Whatever happens with Rosita’s arc we’re super happy for Serratos, and greatly looking forward to the Walking Dead babies all landing recurring roles on the series down the line in Season 32.
