Chrissy Teigen pretended to host Trump’s Fake News Awards, and LOL forever
Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to prolonged social media gags. Remember when she pretended she was at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, keeping the joke going for days? This time around, Teigen used her skillz to pretend she was hosting Donald Trump’s Fake News Awards.
The Fake News Awards were created by Trump in order to call out media sites that he believes aren’t accurately reporting the news. He announced the “winners” on Twitter by accidentally linking to a broken page on the GOP website. Later, it was revealed that he gave the awards to some of the most trustworthy and accredited media sites out there, like CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
And Teigen quickly took to Twitter and Snapchat to help call out the absurdity. Not only did she interview a few people on Snapchat, but she created a whole behind-the-scenes world in which she was “hosting” the major event.
"Here at the Dolby Theater for the MDCMAs, the 'Most Dishonest and Corrupt Media Awards.' As you can see, it’s bustling here," she said. "A lot of people. A lot of people excited for the Fake News Awards. We're excited!"
Teigen told her audience that she wasn’t really sure what time the awards started, or what time zone they’d be in.
Once Teigen got inside the theater, she realized it wasn’t what she expected.

She also managed to go over some of the “rich history” of the Fake News Awards.

At the end of her “gig,” she realized that she neglected one of her other jobs — co-hosting Lip Sync Battle.
we are rehearsing for tomorrow’s live lip sync battle special at the Dolby (formally Kodak) theater and all I have been doing is this fucking fake news awards show I’m sorry @LSB!!

We’ve got a feeling that the cast and crew didn’t mind too much, as Teigen’s pretty good at multitasking. Plus, someone had to pretend to host the Fake News Awards, and Teigen was a natural.
