Chrissy Teigen responded to the Kanye West-John Legend Twitter situation with the most perfect of tweets
It’s been a crazy week over in the Twitter world (cough Kanye West, John Legend), and things don’t seem to be showing any signs of letting up. Now, Chrissy Teigen has responded to the potentially dramatic Twitter situation, and what she had to say was, well, absolutely perfect. TBH, we’d expect nothing less from one of our most-favorite humans.
In case you aren’t totally clear on the backstory (which would be 100% understandable, because this one’s a doozy), here’s the deal: Kanye recently returned to Twitter and has been sharing his thoughts on art, love, philosophy, and — yes — politics. The rapper posted several pro-Trump statements, saying that while he doesn’t agree with everything the POTUS believes, he still supports him. Many fans were outraged by Kanye’s sentiments, calling attention to the president’s problematic views on marginalized people and racial issues.
Kanye’s tweets also caught the attention of friend and fellow musician John Legend, who felt so strongly about Kanye’s posts that he sent him a personal text asking him to reconsider his views on Trump. “I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump.” Legend texted (in a private message since tweeted by Kanye). “You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for.” false
And while Kanye received his friend’s words with love and respect, they didn’t sway his opinion.
I really appreciate this dialogue with John Legend because I'm actually very empathetic. Im still the kid from the telethon. I feel when people think of MAGA they don't think of empathy.

It was only a matter of time before Teigen was asked to comment on the matter. And she did…but not in the way you might expect.
Everyone keeps asking me to comment on shit. Comment on psycho Tami Lasagna, whom I refuse to give the joy to, say something about RHOA, speak up about kanye. When it comes to people we know, we DO speak up. To THEM. not on Twitter. And sometimes, I guess it makes it to Twitter.

Teigen makes an excellent point. She shouldn’t be expected to comment on anything and everything simply because she’s in the public eye. When she and husband John Legend have something of importance to say to friends, they’ll do so privately. Basically, we shouldn’t assume a famous person is ignoring an important issue merely because they haven’t tweeted about it.
Teigen went on to tweet with her signature sense of humor, making it clear she’s not too bothered about the potentially tense situation.
This is the most elaborate and complex google pixel phone ad I have ever seen. https://t.co/RYSZcJxUk3

We’re glad Teigen’s taking this all in stride. What a week.
