Chrissy Teigen speaks the truth about bouncing back after pregnancy

All women, no matter what their shape or size, are impacted by society’s unrealistic standards for the female form. This even applies to pregnant women and new moms, who are not only in charge of caring for another human being, but are also expected to simply “bounce back” after giving birth. Chrissy Teigen – who gave birth to daughter Luna back in April – has also experienced this pressure.

During Revolve’s Hamptons Fourth of July Cookout, Chrissy spoke to E! News about her post-baby body and mentioned that she is in no rush to lose the weight she gained during her pregnancy. Chrissy explained, “You just realize you have to give yourself time and understand that you push out a baby, and it took this long to put on the weight, and it’s not going to peel right off, and that’s OK.

Chrissy also has husband John Legend’s support when it comes to embracing her strong, beautiful, post-baby body. “John actually loves the new pieces!” Teigen exclaimed, adding that fellow moms have also been incredibly inspiring.

In addition to being a wonderfully supportive husband, it sounds like John is also working to become the best dad he can be. Chrissy stated that Luna is head-over-heels in love with her father.

She comes to me, she wants boobs, she wants food, and she looks at me and she giggles at me and she laughs,” Chrissy revealed. “But when she looks at him, it’s like these dreamy, weird, different eyes and it’s so sweet to see because my dad and I are super close, too … I think there’s no relationship like a father-daughter relationship so it’s really cool to see them together.

Chrissy Teigen is clearly enjoying the journey of motherhood, which has solidified her decision to ignore the idea that women need to immediately lose all their pregnancy weight after giving birth. “[L]isten, you shouldn’t have to rush to shed anything,” Chrissy concluded. “It’s OK! It’s fine. Enjoy your baby. Don’t go crazy.”
