Chrissy Teigen Is Buying Everything on Teachers’ Back-to-School Wishlists

She has already fully funded 50 classrooms.

For teachers across the country, heading back to school this year is undoubtedly filled with new challenges due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Not only are teachers responsible for protecting their students, their own families, and themselves from the virus, there’s the added responsibility of having adequate supplies on hand—and a widespread lack of funding in U.S. schools often means that teachers have to buy those supplies themselves. Chrissy Teigen is hoping to mitigate some of that financial burden by taking care of teachers’ Amazon wish lists for them.

The soon-to-be mom of three took to Twitter over the weekend, sharing that she’s going to purchase supplies for as many teachers as she can, and it’s a touching gesture in a time when teachers everywhere are certainly faced with so many additional challenges.

In a tweet on Sunday, August 23rd, Teigen wrote, If you are a teacher in need of supplies for the upcoming school year, please drop your amazon wishlist here, I will do as many as I can!

Immediately after her post, her replies flooded with thousands of responses—of course, further proving how broken our public school system is that so many educators need to create Amazon wish lists just to get essential items for their classrooms.

Later on, Teigen then shared that she “cleared 50 entire lists,” and her followers chipped in, too, buying items for teachers who shared their wish lists. She wrote, “Countless extra items were purchased from lovely people just passing through. Will do more this week and would love to focus on struggling districts and special needs. Please keep posting in this thread!”

Aside from such a lovely gesture, the Cravings cookbook author shared her own at-home schooling set-up for Luna and it’s truly goals. Alongside photos of Luna’s desk, supplies, and toys, she shared her truly enviable book wall, and we sort of want to attend Teigen-Legend Elementary School this year, too.

Of the sweet set-up, she wrote, “Everyone get ready for …. miss chrissy. pregnant and here for it (I really have always wanted to be a teacher!),” later clarifying that each member of the household will have important roles this year. “We are absolutely bringing in a professional but I’ve got cooking, john’s got music, grandma has…day drinking. It will be a great school year.”

Hey, Chrissy, if you need any extra hands—particularly for the cooking, music, and day drinking part—you know where to find us. All jokes aside, we love that she’s using her platform to help teachers. More of this, please!
