Chris Sullivan just weighed in on THAT major “This Is Us” twist

This is Us is a show that is basically the opposite of Game of Thrones. And yet, it still draws comparable levels of plot twists (and family drama, TBH), which then cause many articles and analyses of those twists. This is one of those articles. So if you’re not into spoilers, move right along. Nothing to see here.

Okay, so if you’ve been watching This Is Us, you’ll know there was a pretty big spoiler recently. Last week’s episode spent the majority of the time fooling us into thinking Kate (Chrissy Metz) was focusing on eating healthy and working out so she could fit into a dress.

But, no!

It turns out that Kate is actually 6 weeks pregnant. Toby and Kate are going to be parents! It’s the biggest This Is Us twist yet.

Apparently, this storyline has been in the works since season one, Entertainment Weekly reported.

And Chris Sullivan (aka Toby) had some thoughts on his character’s unborn child.

"I was excited for the two of them. I think they’ll make good parents," Sullivan told EW. "Everybody has to take curveballs as they come in life and hopefully have the ability to adjust their plans. Hopefully Toby and Kate will stay focused on each other, and we’ll see how it all comes out the other side."

But that doesn’t mean there’s no drama ahead.

"The state of their relationship, they’re not married yet, pregnancy is a delicate thing," Sullivan continued. "The couples I know wait until the first trimester’s over sometimes because there are a lot of things that can happen. Kate has a history of not wanting to get her hopes up for things."

We’re sure they’ll be able to figure everything out with classic This Is Us heartwarming and tearjerking scenes. Congrats, Kate and Toby! Your poppy seed is now a lentil.
