The first image from Chris Pine’s Netflix film is here, and he is literally a knight in muddy armor

The movie and television gods have been blessing us with so much Chris Pine lately, and we’re so grateful. The most recent gift from on high is the first look at Chris Pine in his upcoming Netflix film, Outlaw King.

We’re pretty into that title, because it implies that Chris Pine will most likely be rather scruffy, and probably rebellious in some way — and we guess a king. All of these wild suppositions have been confirmed with this first still to be released! (Like, it’s a historical film about Robert the Bruce and it’s probably good and we’re going to talk about it more, blah blah blah, but let’s get to the important part.)

Behold: scruffy knight in not-so-shining armor Chris Pine. You’re welcome.

Okay, take a moment, and then let’s refocus. Director David Mackenzie opened up in an interview about how excited he is to make this movie, following his Academy Award nomination for Hell or High Water. He’s especially excited to have Chris Pine on board, which, we relate.

“I am also delighted that Chris Pine, with whom I had a great time on our last film, has joined our Scottish and international cast and crew including the excellent Aaron Taylor-Johnson and the exciting emerging talent of Florence Pugh and Billy Howle," He explained in a press release. "I know Chris will bring intensity and flair to Robert the Bruce and his struggle to take back his country, being crowned King of Scots, then suffering a disastrous defeat and left on the run with just a handful of supporters only to claw his way, with bravery and cunning, back to victory.  This was an early form of guerilla warfare against the might of a vastly bigger better resourced enemy and is one of the great comeback stories of history.

As if we weren’t already on board for this film, we’re now looking forward to it, because it’s not just Chris Pine — it’s Chris Pine with a Scottish accent. And that is something that can’t be missed.
