The fourth “Star Trek” is a go — and twist, it’ll star Chris Hemsworth

The newest Star Trek movie opens in a few short days, but think back a few years to the first Star Trek movie, the one that completely started this new reboot. It began with an attack on the U.S.S. Kelvin, which also happened to be the birthplace of our Star Trek hero, Captain James Tiberius Kirk (played here by Chris Pine).

Kirk’s dad, Poppa Kirk, made the ultimate sacrifice to go down with the ship as it was being attacked, in order to save everyone else on board. It was an incredibly heroic moment, but it also meant that Kirk has never meet Poppa Kirk. Until right now. Do you REMEMBER who PLAYED POPPA KIRK? It was Chris Hemsworth, pre-Thor. And now he’s coming back.

Bad Robot Productions, the studio behind the newly rebooted movies, has just announced that the fourth movie in the franchise is set to take off, and it’ll reunite Son Kirk with Poppa Kirk.

Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth TOGETHER?

This will go down in history as one of the greatest movies helmed by guys named Chris!

But wait, how can father and son cross paths, considering the fact that one of them is dead? (LOL, remember the time the other one died, and then was brought back to life with Superblood?) Well, these new Star Treks take place in a completely different timelines and dimensions from the old Star Treks (both TV and movies), meaning that two different storylines can exist at the same time. Got that?

According to Bad Robot, the fourth Star Trek will focus on Kirk dealing with his dad, “a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born.”

Sounds like we’re looking at some cross-dimensional time travel, probably through some giant space worm hole — plus two of our favorite Chris’s! Sign us up.
