Chris Hemsworth revealed an Avengers: Endgame behind-the-scenes clip, and we don’t know whether to laugh or cry
Avengers: Endgame found Thor in a low spot. In Infinity War, Thanos murdered his BFF, Heimdall; his brother, Loki; a number of Asgardian refugees; and half of Earth’s civilization with a snap of the Infinity Gauntlet. Naturally, as a result of the tragedy tour de force, the once-chipper God of Thunder sunk into a deep depression, packing on a few pounds and relishing in his new love of video games. Last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Chris Hemsworth revealed exactly how he got into his sad Thor mindset for Avengers: Endgame, and it is both devastating and hilarious.
While the Endgame cast was famously banned from taking any photos and videos on set—a rule the entire cast seems to have disregarded—Hemsworth couldn’t help but to debut a behind-the-scenes clip of himself channeling depressed Thor. It turns out the actor pulled a move every former angsty teen can relate to: play the most depressing song you can think of.
Joking about going full method, Hemsworth revealed that to get into the despondent God’s headspace, he’d play “Hurt” by Johnny Cash, which he dubbed “the saddest song in the world.”

The Men in Black: International star said he never expected the clip, shot between takes in his trailer, would see the light of day. Now that it’s officially in the wild, however, Hemsworth shared an extended version on his Twitter account.

Hemsworth’s depressed Thor clip is just the latest in a long line of cast members’ photos and videos from their smuggled-on-set phones. At this rate, there’s enough contraband footage to match the film’s three-hour runtime, and we are definitely not mad about it.
