Chris Evans is This Year’s Sexiest Man Alive… But What Does HE Find Sexy?
'PEOPLE' Magazine has announced their official pick, but what the 'Captain America' star thinks is sexy may surprise you.
Ladies and gentlemen, the day has finally come: PEOPLE magazine has announced that the winner of this year’s Sexiest Man Alive award is… Chris Evans!
The 41-year old Hollywood hottie is acting totally humble about the honor, and said that while he’s “pumped” to have been chosen, he definitely was not expecting it.
“This would probably be the road to the cool table which I was not at,” he jokes in the official PEOPLE cover story interview.

The Captain America star is this year’s Sexiest Man Alive, an honor bestowed by PEOPLE magazine to celebrate, well, eye candy in the entertainment industry. Since 1985, the world has seen 37 winners, including Mel Gibson (the first to snag the title), Paul Rudd (2021’s winner), and a sexy selection including Michael B. Jordan, Denzel Washington, and Brad Pitt, who has won it twice.
Winners are typically selected based on more than just their looks — the process is data-driven, and inclusive of the person’s overall qualities, like their positive personality traits, and what they are working on at the moment that is helping to change the world, according to Dan Wakefield, PEOPLE’s former Editor-in-Chief.
Not all winners embody their sexiness fully, however. Evans is proof that you can be sexy and awkwardly charming (which may actually make him sexier for some).
“This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about,” he tells PEOPLE. “It feels like a weird form of humble bragging.”
And while Evans may be the Sexiest Man Alive, his own perception of attraction is based on very different qualities.
“I find a certain level of humility sexy,” he explains in a video from the official SMA photoshoot. “It’s wise to recognize that you might not know everything… that you could be wrong. It’s ok to be vulnerable.”
Ex-girlfriends of Evans, including Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel, and Kate Bosworth, have yet to express anything regarding his big win. Though currently single, there is one woman in Evans’ life that he knows will take the news of his new title to heart: his mom.
“My mom will be so happy,” he admits to PEOPLE. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”
“I am not surprised at all,” his mom Lisa adds in the interview. “Our family will be beside themselves.”
Now that he’s the Sexiest Man Alive, is Evans worried about throngs of women chasing him down?
Not so much. It seems his biggest fear is getting teased from his buddies and peers in the industry.
“Really this will just be a point of bullying,” he jokes. “It’s ripe for harassment.”
