Here’s why Chris Evans and more celebs are officially following an onion on Twitter
Concerned citizens in America are currently protesting President Donald Trump’s policies in a large number of ways. From organized marches to calls to Congress to simply sharing articles on Facebook, everyday humans are engaged and politically motivated in ways we have not seen in years.
One small — very small — way to “fight back” against Trump’s White House, though, has only very recently come from an unexpected place: half an onion. In a bag. Getting all yellow-y brown and smelly.
This onion is here to garner more Twitter followers than @realDonaldTrump which — in case you haven’t noticed — is something he happens to value a whole, whole lot. And because Twitter is Twitter, everyone from Chris Evans to Ava DuVernay to Joss Whedon to Julia Louis-Dreyfus to cast members from Vanderpump Rules are on board.
What if this account that is simply half an onion in a Ziploc bag ended up with more followers than @realDonaldTrump? pic.twitter.com/D28lODPZLO

After HOiaB sent out his (her?) initial tweet on January 20th, the followers built up slowly and steadily, with the number reaching 520K by press time. That’s nowhere near Trump’s follower count of 22 million, but he joined back in 2009.
And of course, having a celebrity following is helping HOiaB gain steam.
Captain America has spoken, and is totally on board.
Followed. https://t.co/LWtZZLeJRl

As one Twitter user noticed, HOiaB already has more followers that Trump had humans at his January 20th inauguration.
.@HalfOnionInABag has more followers than @realDonaldTrump had at his inauguration.

This would, inevitably, drive the numbers-obsessed Trump at least a little bit insane.
3 pts: 1.This is rly stupid 2.This is exactly the kinda thing that would get under his skin 3.Think about that

One woman pointed out that it’s fun to protest in this tiny way, but also of grave importance that we find other ways to enact change.

And until change comes, we can enjoy the rising follower count of @HalfOnionInABag.
