And here’s Chipotle’s secret guac recipe!

Chipotle: where dreams are made. Cheesy, bean-y, guac-y, delicious dreams. And we’ve been getting SO much good Chipotle news recently! First, we found out that our fave food establishment is starting a delivery service (unffff), and then we discovered that Chipotle will no longer be serving food with genetically-modified ingredients. Oh, happy days.

Now, something even bigger has happened: we have Chipotle’s official secret guacamole recipe. And we don’t even have to feel bad about telling you guys, because the company posted the recipe on their site on Sunday for all to see.

There’s something about Chipotle’s guac that is extra, extra delicious. We thought it might be because it costs extra money to add guac, so it feels so good to be bad, but now that we have the recipe, we know what exactly makes it so tasty. Jalapeño seeds! (More on that in a second.) According to Chipotle, they normally make a massive batch of it at a time with 48 Hass avocados, but they’ve done us a solid and divided that by 24 for the perfect personal size.

Here’s what you’ll need:

– 2 ripe Hass avocados—according to the site, the right avocado should “feel squishy yet firm (like the palm of your hand), and be a nice dark green color on the inside.”

– 2 teaspoons of lime juice

– 2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro

– 1/4 cup of finely-chopped red onion

– 1/2 of a finely-chopped jalapeño—including the seeds! That adds a little extra zest and texture, FYI.

– 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt

– A medium-sized bowl

Once you have all the delish ingredients, here’s what you do: cut the avocado in half and carefully remove the pit. Then, scoop the green stuff out of the cut avocados and put them in a medium bowl. Toss in the lime juice and the salt. Using a fork, mash it all up until you get a nice, smooth texture. Then, fold in the rest of the ingredients and mix well. You can add more seasonings to taste, if you feel it’s necessary.

Yum. BRB, going to the grocery store post haste. Thanks, Chipotle, for giving us the opportunity to make your ultra-amazing guacamole at home!
