Wait, people will eat HOW MANY chicken wings during the Super Bowl??

It’s Super Bowl Sunday and everyone knows that means awesome commercials, some cool performances, and great snacks! And also maybe some football, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Lots of people love their chicken wings on this sports-themed day. For many people, it isn’t a Super Bowl party until you get some chicken wings! Though, once you hear these statistics from the National Chicken Council, you may start rethinking your obsession with the snack.

According to the NCC, Americans will buy 1.33 billion chicken wings this weekend.

 Yes, really.

The NCC also reports that’s an increase of from the past two years numbers. That means the number of chicken wings has steadily grown over the years and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

The National Chicken Council is made up almost every major company that supplies chicken to the United States. They combine their data together to get accurate ideas of the demand in their product. And, to be honest, it’s pretty intimidating once you start to realize just how much chicken people are actually consuming.

There are, of course, other Super Bowl snack options you can enjoy.

But, for people who love chicken wings, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as enjoying them while you watch the big game. Or, you know, enjoying them while you wait for the extremely entertaining commercials between all that football stuff. And, based on these numbers, you certainly won’t be the only one chowing down on the snack.
