A Cher musical is coming to Broadway, and we now believe in life after love
In what is bound to become an iconic stage show (because, well, how could it not be!?), Cher has a musical coming to Broadway, and if it’s not called “Turn Back Time” we won’t know what to do with ourselves.
The singer, who made her TV award show comeback earlier this year with two incredible performances of “Believe” and “Turn Back Time” at the Billboard Music Awards while also picking up the Icon Award last month, recently celebrated her 71st birthday, as well as a career that now spans over 5 (!) decades. Essentially, Cher has been around forever, and she’s *still* slaying it.
It’s understandable. then, that Cher would want to immortalize her life with a spectacular musical.
In fact, back in January, the legendary singer tweeted that she had been to see an early preview of the muscial, which Playbill suggests is actually based on her life.

“In this production, the characters of BABE, LADY, and STAR represent Cher at different moments of her life- starting as a teenager who falls for Sonny Bono (BABE), a successful music star navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry (LADY) and the lady we know today with a fascinating wealth of life experience, successes, and failures (STAR). Aside from Babe, Lady, Star, Sonny Bono, and Georgia, other roles may be paired together to have the actors double or triple up on the roles,” Playbill quoted a description of the show as saying.
The shows is said to include hits like “The Shoop Shoop Song,” “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves,” “Turn Back Time,” and, of course, “Believe.” It’s also reported that it’ll will feature characters such as Bob Mackie, David Geffen, Gregg Allman, Robert Altman, Rob Camilletti, and even Sigmund Freud…

Well, work on the musical seems to have been progressing nicely, and now Cher has let us know that it’ll be hitting the The Great White Way in 2018.
“Just got off phone w/Writer & Director of musical. There Will ? performance in THEATRE WITH ACTORS,DANCERS,SINGERS‼️
IT’ll ?ON BROADWAY 2018,” the singer wrote in a typically emoji filled tweet.

The currently untitled Cher musical is being produced by Hamilton’s Jeffrey Seller and Flody Suarez, and we’re now expecting it to be on stage within the next 12 to 18 months, which is SUPER EXCITING!
We’re already thinking about the iconic costumes, the wigs, and hearing Cher’s biggest hits on stage. Who can complain about that, eh?
