Chelsea Clinton gave Chrissy Teigen some important mom advice about Twitter trolls
As amazing as the internet is, one big downside is the trolls. They always find a way to pester both celebrities and non-celebrities alike. Chelsea Clinton just gave Chrissy Teigen advice about trolls. Specifically, some mom-to-mom advice about dealing with Twitter trolls. Because right-wing conspiracy theorists recently targeted one-year-old Luna, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s daughter, in a series of tweets.
Of course, it’s no secret that Chrissy Teigen has a big online presence on many social media platforms. Teigen tweets about her travel disasters mid-flight, her beloved Nintendo Switch, and everything in between. And she shares adorable photos and videos of Luna, her dogs, and her tasty recipes on Instagram. We love following Chrissy Teigen, and millions of her fans do too. But when trolls pop up, things can get ugly and hurtful.
Teigen first tweeted about being trolled on Saturday, December 30th. She was attacked by Liz Crokin, a conservative writer who supports the (discredited) Pizzagate sex ring theory. According to the Associated Press, Pizzagate is a conspiracy theory claiming Democrats harbored child sex slaves at a pizza restaurant in Washington, D.C., which subsequently led a gunman to fire an assault weapon inside said pizzeria in December of 2016.
Crokin’s tweets, which include photos of Luna, accuse Teigen of child abuse and pedophilia and suggest that she’s part of the conspiracy. Honestly, “troll” isn’t even the right term for this. It’s just downright hateful.
Alright. I debated saying something about this but I’m pretty disturbed over here. The fact that there are people with these…thoughts…is really scary. pic.twitter.com/9OtWKHxUgR

…apparently dressing my daughter as Alice in Wonderland and a hot dog and having a pizza emoji on Snapchat has to do with pizzagate and being uhhhh darksided. Holy shit That thread is wild. Enjoy.

Yeah yeah it’s “just Twitter” but I’m pretty sure this *sick* person is saying we are darksided pizzagate pedophiles who traffic our daughter. Ummmmm this is really scary shit.

The more Teigen tweeted about it, the worse things got. Eventually, she set her tweets to private. But as of this writing, her profile is public again.
Both Teigen and Legend threatened Cokin with legal action.
Anyone know any good lawyers? https://t.co/220haIinni

You need to take my family’s name out of your mouth before you get sued. https://t.co/bPTwiBAs97
— John Legend (@johnlegend) December 31, 2017
That’s when Chelsea Clinton stepped in.
When Clinton saw what was unfolding, she tweeted some kind, helpful advice.
Chrissy, sending you & beautiful Luna a huge hug. It is awful & never ok when people threaten or demean any child. I’ve lost count of the Twitter accounts who’ve threatened Charlotte with #FGM. While I never bother to report threats against me, I now report every one against her.

I feel silly even worrying about this in comparison to the magnitude of slander and threats you and your family have dealt with for decades. These people are truly sick and scary. Love to you, Charlotte and Marc!!

It is never silly to worry about your kids. Always here to support you and your family in any way. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this.

THIS is the support we’re here for. We’re sending our love to Chrissy, John, Luna, and baby number two.
