The HG team tried Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick that “flatters all skin tones,” and here’s what it looked like
Charlotte Tilbury is the queen of lipstick. Pillow Talk? Iconic. So when the brand launched its Sunset Lover lipstick, we wanted to put it to the test.
The peachy-pink lipstick was created with the pink-ish hues found in summer sunsets in mind. But what’s really cool is that Charlotte herself put a callout on Instagram to ask her followers to submit their favorite shade names for the peachy, pink color. She landed on Sunset Lover, and it couldn’t be more perfect.
But what really caught our eye about this product (aside from the shade) is the fact that it’s meant to “flatter all skin tones,” according to the brand. That’s why HG wanted to show what it looked like on four different employees, all of whom are women of color.
Read through to see how the lipstick looked on each person, and what they thought about it.
The product HG’s team tried: Charlotte Tilbury’s Sunset Lover Lipstick.
Currently, the lipstick is sold exclusively online on Charlotte Tilbury’s website. And it’s only available until it sells out.

Marie’s thoughts:
I usually go for bold lipsticks — bright reds and rich pinks — so I wasn’t sure about Sunset Lover. My first impression of the shade in the tube was that it was pretty, but I was unsure of how it would look on my skin tone. Would it be too light? Too neutral? I feel like lighter lipstick shades can look unremarkable on me and get drowned out. However, after applying it, I was pleasantly surprised. It turns out more peach on my skin tone, which, while different than what I’m used to, is a nice change. I’d definitely want to wear this on days I feel like switching it up with something more nude (well, my kind of nude, which leans more toward pinkish than browns).

Alyssa’s thoughts:
Listen, I love Charlotte Tilbury lipstick. I wore Bitch Perfect on my wedding day. So, I was super excited to try Sunset Lover. It’s a perfect shade for summer, and as a pinky-peach lipstick lover, the color speaks to my heart. I love the creamy yet matte formula of this lipstick, too. It’s comfortable on my dry, chapped lips. However, I do wish this lipstick showed up a little more peach on me. It pulls more pink on my lips, and it reminds me of the Bitch Perfect shade, tbh. It’s nothing major (because I still think it’s gorgeous and I love these shades anyway), but I just love how peach-y it looked on the other girls.

Pam’s thoughts:
I’m usually not attracted to coral-ish colors or any shades of pink — because I feel it won’t look very good with my skin tone, but this one was really cute! It went on like buttah, it felt comfortable, and it was very pigmented. 8/10 would recommend, tbh.
Iris Barber, Operations Manager
Iris’ thoughts:
I’ve been waiting for this shade to come out since Charlotte Tilbury had a lipstick naming contest back in February. As always, CT did not disappoint. This is the only matte formula that I feel comfortable wearing all day without my lips drying. I’m so in love with the shade — it’s the perfect summer color.
Overall, the team really liked the way it showed up on their skin tone.
