This actress will play Kate Middleton in a new TV drama

If you’re a big fan of Kate Middleton (and, honestly, aren’t we all?), you’re going to be thrilled to hear that the Duchess of Cambridge will be getting a TV portrayal of her own in a forthcoming drama, and it sounds totally amazing. Even though her royal family members have been depicted on shows like The Crown and others, the Duchess is finally getting her due (aside from that William and Kate Lifetime movie from 2011, of course!) and we simply can’t wait.

According to BBC News, the Duchess will be portrayed in a TV adaption of the play King Charles III, which originally premiered on the stage in London in 2014. As for who’s filling those famous princess pumps?

Her name is Charlotte Riley, and she’s a dead ringer for Princess Kate. Charlotte is most known for her roles in the British TV mini-series Close to the Enemy and the film London Has Fallen, and she’s also married to mega-hottie Tom Hardy (cutest couple ever, anyone?). She not only shares Kate’s gorgeous brunette locks and beautiful smile, but also her daughter’s name (aw!).

Charlotte knows she has some pretty big shoes to fill, but she’s excited to take on the challenge. She told BBC, “It’s such a unique project. To be both modern and rich in verse and to play someone who is real but yet totally re-imagined for this story is an exciting prospect for an actor.”

"Kate Middleton is a really interesting woman, particularly within the context of this play, and it is a challenge I am really looking forward to."

The air date of King Charles III is still TBD, but we’ll be setting our DVRs as soon as we can for this one.
