Charlotte Le Bon is making a case for ’80s prom dress ruffles, and we ~totally~ see her point

Perhaps she was inspired by Ryan Gosling’s recent red carpet ode to ’80s prom fashion. Maybe she’s just gaga for ruffles. Either way, Charlotte Le Bon is making a serious case for the return of ’80s-style ruffles to the red carpet. And we’re basically floored, because we never knew this classic retro trend could be so incredibly sophisticated!

At The Promise premiere in Los Angeles last night, the French-Canadian actress made a ladylike statement in an off-the-shoulder Rasario gown. The slit-leg, column style gown emanated a dainty demeanor from the waist down. Up top, however, the strong row of ruffles alluded to the cha-cha line of an 80’s prom dance. Yup, those ruffles were seriously bold, zesty and flat-out showstopping!

Ay caramba!

For reference, just check out this cheeky vintage prom dress in all it’s ruffled glory. It’s not a dead ringer for Charlotte’s gown, but your get the point. Back in the day, this dress probably ~ruled~ the fashion game.

It’s easy to see how, on any other silhouette, these ruffles would’ve been overpowering. But on Charlotte’s sprightly dress, it’s a perfectly balanced pop of pizazz. What’s more, with those dazzling emerald earrings, courtesy of Coomi, this look was a head-to-toe smash hit.

Oh la la!

With Gianvito Rossi sandals and Prada accessories to top off the look, it’s safe to say Charlotte’s ensemble was perfectly understated, glamorous perfection.

And side note… if Ryan Gosling’s looking for a dress for Eva Mendes to go with ~his~ ruffled prom tux shirt, we’re sure Charlotte would loan this number to her!
