Okay, now it’s official-official- Channing Tatum is going to play Gambit

Fangirls and fanboys can breathe easy, it looks like Channing Tatum will indeed be playing Gambit in the upcoming X-Men spinoff.

It was looking a little shaky there for a moment. Just days ago contract negotiations hit a snag. That’s what happens when you don’t offer Channing a gazillion time infinity dollars plus an “Emperor of the Known Universe” credit at the end of the movie, and you know what, Channing deserves all that plus the moon in his contract because he is a real-life X-Man, and his mutant superpower is being the greatest at rocking the silver screen.

In any event,  apparently everything worked out and, as the Hollywood Reporter tells us,  Channing is back on to play Gambit. A ginormous collective sigh of relief is in order.

For those of you that haven’t read every single issue of X-Men cover-to-cover, the character of Remy LeBeau AKA Gambit has the ability to create, control, and manipulate pure kinetic energy. He’s also quite the card-shark and a badass when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. He’s from Louisiana and has a rad Cajun accent, he used to be a thief, and he has an on-again-off-again thing with Rogue. Of COURSE this character has to have his own film and OF COURSE Channing has to play him. We’re so glad all those awkward-times negotiations worked out, because we are super-ready to get our Gambit on.

First up, though, in the X-Men-verse is Deadpool, which comes out on February 12th, 2016 and X-Men Apocalypse, which bows May 16th, 2015. Meanwhile, Channing’s got the Coen Brother’s Old Hollywood-set Hail Caesar! is set to come out the week before Deadpool, on February 6th, 2015, and 23 Jump Street is currently in pre-production. And then, FINALLY, after all those rad movies, our Channing can get his Gambit on.

Trust us, Channing Tatum ‘Voguing’ is the best thing ever

Channing Tatum is pro-feminism and pro-Roxane Gay, so that’s cool
