Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have a series in the works, because dreams come true
Take a moment to give a quick bow to the TV gods today. Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are teaming up for an upcoming television show and our hearts are bursting.
The actors will do English voiceovers for the two main characters in Comrade Detective, an Amazon Studios comedy shot in Romania. Oh yeah, and if that’s not enough for you, there is a whole HOST of amazing talent also lending their voices. Like Jenny Slate, Jake Johnson, Mark Duplass, and Debra Winger.
Plus, the storyline sounds really, really intriguing.
The series takes place during the Cold War, and follows two detectives investigating the murder of another officer, while simultaneously trying to undermine a plot to take down Romania. The twist is that the show is actually government-created, and used as a tool to help squash communism.
The show premieres August 4th on Amazon Prime Video — and thankfully, it’s not going to be the last collaboration we see between the two actors.
Tatum and Gordon-Levitt also have a musical comedy in the works for Universal Pictures. Gordon-Levitt helped come up with the idea for the script and the movie will be produced by Marc Platt, who brought Wicked to the stage. (Oh, and he’s Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt’s dad.)
It’s all just so exciting!
