Chanel blasted an actual rocket ship at Paris Fashion Week, and it was very dope
One small step for the model, one giant leap for Chanel-kind!
Of all the things we hold true about Paris Fashion Week, it is that Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel show never ceases to go above and beyond into spectacular and mind-blowing territory. But today, the storied super-designer took it out of this world in a literal fashion, scrapping his regular runway for a Chanel space station at the Grand Palais and closing the show with the launch of his rocket ship, set to the tune of Elton John’s “Rocket Man.”
If you’re thinking, “Whoa, that’s out of this world,” then you read our (and everyone else’s) minds!
Of course, nothing Lagerfeld does is ever without its purpose. Which is why he called for the construction of the Chanel space station to match the tone of his futuristic, galaxy-inspired Fall 2017 collection.
With glitter boots that are bound to be the biggest trend of the season, celestial prints, shiny silver accessories, and what we’re calling a spacesuit neckline, the collection was nothing short of stellar. Which is exactly what we think Karl was going for here.
Among the A-list model veterans in the show, Bella and Gigi Hadid along with bestie Kendall Jenner were, of course, front and center to take Chanel’s classic tweeds and herringbones into space.
With their runway squad, they also showcased Chanel’s biggest beauty trends for fall: Barbarella-inspired hair, Twiggy-esque bold lashes and white eyeliner, Blair Waldorf-worthy headbands, pink lips, frosty eyeshadow, and a top-of-the-eyelid liner.
Oh, and we can’t forget about the most darling detail of the show: This perfect little rocket ship cross-body bag!
There’s never been a dull runway show for Chanel, but even this is next level for the legendary fashion house. But just like every collection, the shows just keep on getting better and better. C’est la vie!
