Chadwick Boseman brought T’Challa to Black Jeopardy! on SNL, and Twitter loved it
Saturday Night Live loves writing Jeopardy! sketches, and we love watching them. In 1996, SNL premiered the now-famous sketch “Celebrity Jeopardy!“ Hosted by Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek, it brought us some of the most iconic celebrity impressions in SNL history. (Burt Reynolds, anyone?) But lately, there has been a new ongoing Jeopardy! sketch that is arguably even funnier than the original “Celebrity Jeopardy!” In 2014, Kenan Thompson hosted his first “Black Jeopardy!“ Playing the host Darnell Hayes, aka Alex Treblack, the sketch is brilliant and always funny. But when Chadwick Boseman hosted the April 7th episode of SNL, “Black Jeopardy!” stepped its game up big time.
The actor excelled at making everyone laugh all night long. With (pregnant!) Cardi B as the musical guest, it was seriously an episode to remember. Naturally, Boseman brought his Black Panther character, T’Challa, to “Black Jeopardy!” If you haven’t seen Black Panther, T’Challa is the king of an African utopia called Wakanda. In Wakanda, there isn’t much familiarity with Black culture in America. So basically, putting T’Challa on “Black Jeopardy!” was brilliant and hilarious.
It takes T’Challa some time to get the hang of “Black Jeopardy!” and it’s so funny to watch.
With categories like “Grown Ass,” “Aw Hell Naw,” “Fid’na,” “Girl Bye,” “I Ain’t Got It,” and “White People,” T’Challa certainly couldn’t relate to many of the experiences discussed on the show. Boseman slipped right back into the role of King of Wakanda. His elegance and respect is hilarious as he finally sorts through his perspective and jumps into the culture. When asked a question in the “White People” category, T’Challa finally gets the hang of it.

There's a lot of sophisticated nuance in this black jeopardy skit. The unique distinctions between black Americans and Africans. #SNL

A woman named Karen (THE Karen?!) even got in on “Karen” joke.
In my defense, I would never put raisins in potato salad.
I will work on the spices, though.#BlackJeopardy— Karen E. Bunting (@karenewolsey) April 8, 2018
So, when is too soon for Chadwick Boseman to host SNL again? Next week?
