Here are a couple things you might’ve forgotten that will make Jon and Cersei’s meeting even more awkward

In the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones, Jon Snow and Cersei Lannister will come face to face. We repeat, JON SNOW AND CERSEI LANNISTER WILL COME FACE TO FACE.

And that meeting will be hella awkward for a whole lotta reasons.

Like, the fact that Cersei currently sits on the Iron Throne, but Jon supports Dany — or #MyQueen, as he calls her — who is trying to claim the coveted Throne for herself.

But Jon is intent on heading to King’s Landing anyway — with a pesky ‘lil Wight along for the ride — to prove to Cersei that the Night King and his army are a very real threat. Plus, he wants to convince her that the living must team up to defeat the dead, despite their differences in opinion about who exactly should rule over Westeros.

Beyond those differences in opinion, there are some other reasons why this meeting could get real weird, real quick.

As Reddit user Mohacas pointed out, Lyanna Stark still sort of has the upper hand over Cersei — despite the fact that she’s, you know, dead.

“A sudden realization [I had is] that even in death, Lyanna Stark is still taking it all away from Cersei! Cersei used to lust for Rhaegar, but Rhaegar fell in love with Lyanna,” Mohacas writes. “Cersei wants Robert to give her attention, but Robert is obsessed with Lyanna. Now that Cersei sits on the Iron Throne, there is Lyanna’s son Jon Snow who is the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.”

Kingofbhal came to a similar realization and added that Tywin wanted Cersei, his daughter, to marry Rhaegar when he was Hand to Mad King Aerys. But, Aerys married Rhaegar to Elia Martell instead.

Cersei always fancied and wanted to marry Prince Rhaegar,” kingofbhal writes. “She even asked Maggy the witch, ‘Will I marry the Prince?’ Maggy the witch replied, ‘No, you will marry the King.’” That King was Robert Baratheon, who was set to marry Lyanna before Rhaegar abducted/ran away with her.

“So, Jon is basically the son of the Prince she always wanted to marry and the woman her husband loved till his death.”

So yeah, talk about awkward.

Now, Cersei likely doesn’t know all of this. Even Jon doesn’t know his true parentage, and still believes that he’s Ned Stark’s bastard. But with a romance heating up with Dany — who unbeknownst to him is his aunt — and the series coming to an end next season, that parentage has to come out at some point, right?

For drama’s sake, there’s no better time than Jon and Cersei meeting about a very deadly threat. Talk about even more reason to look forward to Game of Thrones’ Season 7 finale, which airs on HBO on Sunday.
