I’ve tried dozens of face washes on my oily skin, and this $13 drugstore find is the best

I’ve had oily, acne-prone skin since I can remember, which means I’ve tried just about every drugstore brand out there to keep it at bay—Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Burt’s Bees, Noxzema, you name it. While I’ve been satisfied with some products, I’ve never been able to stick to just one for a long period of time. I find myself constantly changing my face wash, toner, and moisturizers because they make my skin look okay, but don’t produce powerful long-term results.

But now, even though I’m still searching for the perfect toner and moisturizer, I’ve finally discovered a face wash I can commit to being in a long-term relationship with: the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser.

There are tons of things I like about this face wash, one of the best being its price point. You can grab a 16-ounce bottle for just over $13 on Amazon, making it super affordable for the amount you get. Other than the great price, this is one of the first cleansers I’ve tried that doesn’t strip away my skin’s moisture as it removes oil and dirt. This is super important because if you have oily skin, you don’t want to use products that dry out your skin, since that will just increase your oil production even more. It has a gel-to-foam texture, which is refreshing and effectively removes makeup.

The fragrance-free face wash actually prides itself on being able to remove oil without disrupting your skin’s natural moisture: It has a unique formulation of ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, which all work to keep skin protected, moisturized, and calm. I’ve personally noticed less breakouts since using the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser (at least, less noticeable, angry ones), and have never experienced any irritation from it either.

Amazon shoppers love it too: Close to 500 customers have left it perfect, five-star reviews, saying they’ve “never looked back” after trying it, and seen better results than using more expensive brands like “Ole Henriksen, Glamglow, and Clinique.”

“I’m 30 years old and have fought bad acne my entire life so I’ve tried many different cleansers from the super gentle ones like Cetaphil to prescription ones with harsh chemicals. This is a good middle of the road cleanser,” one shopper wrote. “I really feel like it does a good job getting my face clean and removing dirt and makeup (unlike Cetaphil) without drying out my face completely (like the harsh chemical ones). I typically have pretty oily skin and this does a good job of removing the oil without overdrying my skin.”

If you’ve struggled to find the right face wash for your oily skin, or you’re just looking for a no-frills face wash that’s effective and non-stripping, do yourself a favor and add CeraVe’s Foaming Face Wash to your cart.
