No matter who you are, how old you are, or what your level of fame is, having acne can be a really tough thing to handle. It’s one of those things that can rob you of your self-confidence and make you feel like you don’t want to walk out the front door. Luckily, there are quite a few celebrities out there who have been taking to Instagram to show the world that acne isn’t uncommon, and it’s totally fine to have it. It’s just one of those things that comes with being human.

There are a few celebs in particular who are especially open about their struggles with acne. They’ve spoken about it in interviews, posted pictures online, and have encouraged people everywhere to keep their head up. Because it’s nothing to be ashamed of! If you’re someone who’s wrestled with acne in the past, the following celebs can help you take solace in the fact that you’re definitely not alone.

1. Daisy Ridley

The Star Wars star put it all on the line a couple months ago when she shared her struggles with endometriosis, a very painful disease that causes the tissue of the uterus to grow on the outside of this organ. Symptoms are irregular menstrual cycles and severe acne. “My skin was THE WORST,” Daisy admitted. “I can safely say feeling so self-conscious has left my confidence in tatters. I hate wearing make up [sic] but I currently don’t want to leave the house without it on.

She’s been doing everything she can to take care of herself and, at the same time, Daisy encourages women everywhere who have acne to do the same. There’s more to life than clear skin, she reminded everyone. She’s an inspiration.

2. Katy Perry

Bad skin really made me want to hide. I’d wear makeup to bed or stay in if I had a bad breakout,” Katy stated. She’s been a spokesperson for Proactiv as well, telling the world about her issues with acne in the past. Plus, the popstar’s proven that you can slay no matter what kind of pimples you’ve got on your face.

3. Lorde

Here’s another celeb who knows how to find the humor in having acne. A few months ago, Brie posted a pic on Instagram of herself on the red carpet. “When you’re stressing/obsessing over a zit so you put on too much zit cream before bed and wake up to giant dry spot but you gotta get your photo taken anyway,” she wrote in the caption.

The photo got over 26K likes. Clearly, there are a lot of people out there who can relate. It was a throwback from 2013, but Brie clearly shared it in an attempt to show everyone that it’s okay to battle a zit here and there.

5. Keke Palmer

Don’t let anyone tell you your imperfections don’t make you beautiful,” Keke wrote in an Instagram post. She has been at the forefront of the no makeup selfie movement for a while now, even though she’s received some unwarranted backlash for standing up for what she believes in.

In another Instagram post, she wrote, “The truth is, anytime you’re being you and not following the status “quo”, you will be ridiculed. I say this to me and anyone watching the nasty things that are being said to me. From the acne scars on my skin, to the unwanted nude color on my toes hahaha. I can only be me and if it’s not enough for anyone else that’s alright with me!” You tell ’em, Keke!

6. Mindy Kaling

Has there ever been a time Mindy hasn’t made us roll on the floor laughing? Not really. Eight months ago, she posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption: “That zit cream in your 30’s life. At least I’m not going on the Tonight Show later today.” She looks great, doesn’t she?! It’s great to see a celeb who doesn’t let a few pimples prevent her from feeling completely and utterly beautiful.

7. Cameron Diaz

You would never guess it, seeing how flawless she is today, but Cameron has battled acne in the past. In her book The Body Book, the actress admits that her terrible acne was associated with her lifestyle and diet choices back in the day. “I mean, I had terrible, terrible, skin,” she said. “I didn’t realize all that fried, greasy, processed artificial crap was setting off a hormonal surge that sent my skin into crazy town!” She cleaned up her food and swears that it made a huge difference in the appearance of her skin.
