It’s become very clear by now that Taylor Swift wants you to know that the ~old her~ has died. We were never really sure what she meant by that. Is everything up until the social media blackout the “old her?” Besides her new music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” we haven’t physically SEEN Swift, so have we really met the “new her” yet?

If this cryptic symbolism in the new music video is any clue, we can pinpoint the exact day that old Swift ~died.~ Apparently, it was at the Met Gala three years ago!

This is the shot early on in the video where Swift is being hauled into the ground at the cemetery. It is quite literally showing Swift as “dead.”

Why does that beauty look and dress seem so familiar? It’s because she looked like that at the 2014 Met Gala! Shoutout to JustJared for making the connection in the first place.

We’re wracking our brains trying to come up with WHY this moment in time was chosen for Swift’s “death” imagery. That same night, Swift danced around the Met Gala with Selena Gomez and Karlie Kloss. Meaning, everything seemed fine in the Swiftiverse???

Maybe Swift means she’s saying buh-bye to the entire 2014 era?? That was about the time before a lot of her Katy/Kanye/Kim/Calvin drama started up? It was the era when Swift wasn’t heating up headlines the way she has in recent years. Hmmm?

Or maybe we’re reading too much into this and she just liked that dress from the Met Gala. Bloop!
