Tiffany Haddish gave an 18-minute acceptance speech for her work in "Girls Trip," because legends only
As if there was any doubt, Tiffany Haddish gave an acceptance speech at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards that ran a full 18 minutes, cementing her status as a total legend, TBH. The star of Girls Trip won the prize for Best Supporting Actress, and clearly was all-in on confirming that she is, indeed, the best. The whole speech was inspirational and hilarious, which is what we’ve come to expect from Tiffany Haddish.
One of the things we loved most in the speech, though, was when she made sure everybody knew she isn’t going anywhere, and that she plans to have a long, fruitful, and diverse career.
YES, PLEASE. This, then, led to her acknowledging that, although she won this award given by NYFCC, the responses to her work aren’t always positive. But her perspective on the whole “being famous and everybody commenting on every aspect of your life” thing is admirable.
She then got really real, and we not only love her sincerity, but love that kids growing up in the foster system might see this speech and be able to see big things in their own futures because of Tiffany Haddish.
She continued to thank many people, and awe us with her overall greatness — and her commitment to being unapologetically herself.
Honestly, we’ve never enjoyed an 18-minute acceptance speech more. You go, Tiffany Haddish.
