Sophie Turner says her social media accounts have helped her land roles
Sometimes, it’s all about the numbers. While she’s a truly talented actress, Sophie Turner admitted social media helped her land roles. It might seem a bit ridiculous, but she gave a clear example in a recent interview.
Known best for her work on Game of Thrones, Turner has built up quite the following since the HBO show launched in 2011. And according to an interview with Porter Magazine, as reported by The Telegraph, she beat out another young woman who she admitted was a “far better actress.” In her eyes, it was solely because more people followed her accounts online.
She definitely has the followers. Currently, she’s boasting over 5 million followers on Instagram, more than 2 million through Facebook, and around 1.35 million on Twitter. That’s a lot of people. And that count likely grows by the day.
The Telegraph also reports that Turner has admittedly gotten smarter about her social media use throughout the years. As she put it, she didn’t realize she was as famous as she was when she sent out her thoughts and opinions to the world.
Also, she was a teenager — so obviously, she used her accounts socially.
It’s a lesson we all need to learn at some time — even the very visible, very sophisticated Sophie Turner.
