Selena Gomez is reportedly going to rehab for *such* an important reason, and we're cheering her on
Can we get everyone to take a moment out to send Selena Gomez some majorly positive vibes? The 24-year-old singer/actress is reportedly currently in rehab to manage depression and anxiety, US Weekly reports. Apparently, she’s been undergoing treatment at a Tennessee facility since she told fans in August that she’d be cutting her Revival world tour short to take time off to properly deal with her lupus diagnosis.
A source told the site that Gomez is in “a private and quiet place” but also “super intense,” adding, “Selena is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health.”
This news comes just days after Gomez resurfaced on Instagram for the first time in the past couple of months. On Monday, a fan site shared photos of the singer who was spotted with her mother and stepfather at a Texas Roadhouse in Alcoa, Tennessee, where she graciously took time out to pose for photos with restaurant employees and fans.
Back in July, Gomez penned an emotional Instagram post saying she needed to give some new consideration to her life “creatively and personally.” We have to applaud her and others who are brave enough to openly share their struggles with depression. By prioritizing both her mental and physical health and doing whatever she sees fit to find inner peace, Gomez is an inspiration to others who are struggling to pull themselves out of a dark place.
Although an individual’s outward appearance and actions are never completely accurate indicators of how they’re coping with mental health issues, Gomez looks to be in good spirits in the photos and we can only hope that her that she’s on the road to finding the peace and strength she needs.
