Virgo season is officially in full effect and we have to admit that some of the recent celebrity birthday bashes have left us with a major case of FOMO. We smiled (and wept) our way through photos and video clips of Beyoncé’s Soul Train-themed 35th bday bash, but little did we know that President Obama’s 55th birthday party would be even more lit than Queen Bey’s.
During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, A Wrinkle in Time director Ava Duvernay gave us the inside scoop on POTUS’ Friday night birthday celebration at the White House and apparently, it went all the way down on the dance floor. Among the celebrity attendees were Chance the Rapper, Nick Jonas, Ellen DeGeneres and Paul McCartney, as well as Usher and Janelle Monáe, who faced off in a dance battle that was so intense that both POTUS and FLOTUS joined in.
OMG, y’all. We can only imagine how amazing this was to witness in person, but we’re guessing there was some major presidential flexing before POTUS and the first lady pulled out their best moves, because isn’t that how all dance battles start out?
Since Obama’s shindig was super secure, we probably won’t stumble upon any leaked selfies or videos of the couple werkin’ it on the dance floor so we’ll have to settle for listening to Duvernay’s recount on repeat, while using our imagination to fill in all of the envy-inducing details.
