Nicole Kidman opened up about her infamous Emmys kiss with Alexander Skarsgard
Last month, the Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon-led series Big Little Lies all but cleaned up at the Emmys, winning eight statuettes, including Outstanding Limited Series and several big awards for the show’s leads.
While Big Little Lies was certainly the talk of the night, the Emmys kiss between Kidman and costar Alexander Skarsgard may have stolen the show.
That’s right, as Skarsgard — who played the violent and abusive Perry Wright on the series — approached the stage to accept his Emmy, his onscreen wife popped out to give him a congratulatory kiss…while her real-life husband Keith Urban looked on, enthusiastically clapping.
Needless to say, the audience at the Microsoft Theater and 11 million people watching at home were like:
Now, Kidman is opening up about that kiss, and guys, we’re totally just making something out of nothing. During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Norton congratulated the Lion actress for her Emmy wins, before swiftly pivoting to the kiss.
The actress went on to explain to the host and fellow guests that she did kiss Skarsgard because of all they went through while filming Big Little Lies — something everyone who watched the series would understand — and reiterated how much she loves Urban.
Sure, Kidman got a *little* bit flustered — especially while being goaded by Norton and her couchmates Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, and Matt Lucas — but hey, who wouldn’t while talking about Alexander Skarsgard. And honestly, Nicole was a champ on that couch.
Never change, Nicole!
