Nicole Kidman gushed about the power of female-centric TV shows and her amazing year
ICYMI, Nicole Kidman’s had a BIG year as far as starring in some pretty top-notch film and TV projects. At the 2017 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour on July 29th, Nicole Kidman gushed about the power of female-centric TV shows and her amazing year thus far, reported Vulture. Of course, we love watching Kidman in anything she does, such as Big Little Lies, and can’t wait for September when we can see Kidman in Top of the Lake: China Girl.
Yup, we agree that it’s exciting! If you haven’t watched Top of the Lake yet, you must!
It’s Jane Campion’s murder-mystery on SundanceTV, and the second season, Top of the Lake: China Girl, will air for three nights, from September 10-12th.
Of course, Elisabeth Moss will be on the show once again as Detective Robin Griffin. GOT’s Gwendoline Christie will join her, playing Detective Miranda Hilmarson. This season, Griffin will investigate an Asian girl’s body that’s washed up on Bondi Beach. But, she’ll also be trying to reconnect with the daughter she gave up at birth, Mary (Alice Englert, aka Campion’s daughter IRL), who’s a rape victim.
As for Kidman, she plays Mary’s tough-yet-vulnerable adoptive mom, Julia, according to USA Today. Of her role, Kidman said she had “tremendous confidence” in Campion, who she’s known since she was 14.
Here are Christie, Moss, Englert, and Kidman at the TCA press tour.
It definitely looks like they’re having a good time!
As for future projects, what would Kidman like to explore more? TV!
While we pray to the TV gods to make that happen, we’ll also be anticipating seeing Kidman’s more serious side in Top of the Lake: China Girl in September!
